If you’re looking for the most accessible and scenic places around Lake Tahoe, Nevada, we’ve got you. As Carson City locals and long-time film and digital wedding photographers, we’ve done our share of location scouting to find the best spots to host a wedding or elopement. Whether you want something easily accessible or you’re willing to adventure, this list of our 5 favorite wedding locations will have something for everyone.
Hi, we’re Shelby + Collin–the husband-wife camera double date you never knew you needed (until searching for this blog post apparently). And we’re stoked to be your guides.
Let’s get started.
1. Sand Harbor State Park
Quick Rundown:
Sand Harbor is the EPITOME of Lake Tahoe.
Known for its huge boulders protruding from the water next to the Caribbean-blue teal water, this state park is the reason almost 15 million visitors gather here each year.
Best part? NO hiking required!
Photo permit required? Yes, but we’ll get that taken care of for you. You can find more about photo permit requirements in the parks of Nevada here.
General information about the park can be found here.
2. Carnelian Bay Overlook
Quick Rundown:
It’s private and there are beautiful lake views.
There’s no hiking required–just you two and big blue.
A bonus: there’s room for a few guests! This area is easily accessible and walkable.
Photo permit? No, but you also don’t have the option to reserve the space either, so weekdays are best.
General information about the park can be found here.
3. Khale Park
Quick Rundown:
Khale Park has it all and is perfect for the couple looking for photos in all of the diversity that Tahoe has to offer. Filled with the ponderosa pines that the Tahoe Wilderness is famous for, it’s great for both a private exchange of vows and an easily accessible route due to the paved and gravel paths.
In contrast with the pines, you’ll still find miles of sandy beaches and Tallac Mountain views. A true gem.
If you’re looking for a great sunset, post up on the east shore and pack a picnic because you won’t wanna miss this.
You’ll walk, but it’s easy.
You can find an application for the photo permit here.
General information about the park can be found here.
4. Cave Rock
Quick Rundown:
A short quarter mile hike with optional rock scrambling at the end
LEGENDARY bird’s eye view of Lake Tahoe
It’s still quite accessible, but it’s a bit more moderate of a hike than some of our other listed locations.
General information about the park can be found here.
5. Fallen Leaf Lake
Quick Rundown:
If the summer buzz of Lake Tahoe doesn’t quite match your vision for elopement or wedding day, opt for Fallen Leaf Lake.
Just minutes away from Emerald Bay, you can say your vows at the lake and then make your way over to some of the most beautiful views Tahoe has to offer.
Fallen Leaf Lake boasts several different trails to choose from with meadows, pines, and the lake that’s tucked right behind Tallac Mountain, so be sure to ask us which one fits the vibe for you. It’s rarely too windy, which means there is usually a great reflection on the lake.
Oh, and you can also reserve a camp ground here!
No photo permit necessary.
General information about the lake can be found here.
No matter where you choose to celebrate, ANY of these Lake Tahoe locations will be a slam dunk.
